Heather Broadfield
Heather has specialised in all areas of family law since she qualified as a solicitor in 2011 and joined Slater Heelis as an Associate Solicitor in November 2022, having previously headed Family departments at high street firms in Cheshire.
An energetic and passionate family solicitor, she understands that her clients need a balanced combination of personal qualities and expert knowledge to deal with the intricacies of their disputes.
Heather holds the Law Society Family Law Accreditation, which is a recognised quality standard for family law practitioners who are able to show that they have a high level of competence and knowledge in family law.
She represents clients in a wide range of divorce and financial matters, ranging from complex, high-net-worth cases to those involving more modest assets. Heather regularly represents clients in cases involving expert evidence, property portfolios, family businesses, and high-value pension funds.
Heather has considerable experience in addressing the impact on both adults and children involved in a relationship breakdown, and her approach is to guide clients with appropriate options to enable them to reach a fair resolution.
Heather is client-focused and she endeavours to achieve the best result for her clients. She will always try and achieve a resolution as quickly, pragmatically, and as cost-effectively as possible, and is also ready to fight for her client in order to obtain the best possible outcome.
As a member of Resolution, Heather always looks for alternative dispute resolutions wherever possible. Her clients appreciate her supportive manner and her ability to provide straightforward advice.
Heather has extensive experience conducting complex cases involving non-accidental injuries to children, physical and sexual abuse allegations, and parental alienation. She has acted for a number of parents who have been denied the chance of spending time with their children, through no fault of their own, and successfully obtained joint live with orders. She has successfully defended malicious allegations, and secured findings in respect of the child’s relationship being deliberately restricted, by the court against the parent making those allegations.
Heather’s hard work, passion and commitment to her clients does not go unnoticed and she continues to receive positive heartfelt feedback from clients. Heather is often described by her clients as ‘empathetic’, ‘knowledgeable’, ‘professional’ and ‘compassionate’, and most importantly as a lawyer who ‘genuinely cares about her job and is doing it to help people’.
Outside of work, Heather enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling, and hiking in the Lake District.
