We are proud to announce that we have partnered with the LGBTQ+ Divorce Forum, an online hub for same-sex or LGBTQ+ couples going through a divorce.
Created by Jamie Lowe, owner of financial planning company True Self Wealth, the hub will provide a central information point and holistic support system to guide individuals going through a martial separation covering everything from legal advice to personal training and mental health support.
We are the chosen legal partners for the project, with five solicitors officially affiliated with the scheme; Charlotte Beck, Claire Higham and Phil Joy from the firm’s family team and Charlotte Otton and Fakruddin Maimoon from the Wills and Probate are all representing Slater Heelis and each have specialisms and experience in supporting LGBTQ+ people through legal matters.
We have established a reputation for being active within the LGBTQ+ community and we were the first law firm in the UK to become accredited as an official partner of the LGBT Foundation in 2022. To achieve this, it participated in the LGBT Foundation’s Pride in Practice Training Academy – a live and interactive online curriculum of training modules.
Commenting on the partnership, Charlotte Beck, Partner in the Family Law team, said:
“We’re delighted to be the chosen legal partner for the LGBTQ+ Divorce Forum – it is an initiative we are proud to be involved in and are confident we can add some comfort and confidence to its user community with our knowledge and experience in this area.
“All five of our team members supporting the project are LGBT Champions and Allies, and experts in their specialist field with each of them bringing true passion to their work. We’re certain the expertise and guidance they provide, in addition to the wider offering of the LGBTQ+ Divorce Forum, is going to be hugely beneficial for people going through a divorce or separation and we would urge anyone who finds themselves in this situation to look at the website.”
