Hugh Butler

Biography

Hugh is part of the Wills and Probate team and is based in our new Chester office. He was formerly a partner in a Chester law firm and joined Slater Heelis in August 2025. Hugh advises on wills, trusts, estates and IHT mitigation and undertakes probate and estate administration and the creation of trusts. Hugh was admitted as a solicitor in 1989 and has specialised in private client work since qualifying as a solicitor. He is a full member of STEP.

In addition to his private client work, Hugh is clerk to an Almshouses charity based in Chester, advising the trustees on their legal responsibilities and the administration of the charity.
