We’re proud to announce that we have been recognised in The Times Top 250 Law Firms for the fifth consecutive year! This year, we have had once again had special recognition for our family team. Three of our firm’s cases have also been referenced, including our family, crime, and clinical negligence services.
The independently compiled list, which is assembled by research company Statista, uses interviews from over 4500 lawyers, showcasing the best lawyers and legal practices for business, public and private-client law.
Being recognised in the Top 250 list is an acknowledgement from fellow peers and experts, who nominate who they feel are the very best in the sector.
2025 has proved to be an standout year within multiple departments at Slater Heelis, which is a testament to the wide-ranging expertise across our firm. Here’s a brief look at some of the team’s prominent cases in 2025:
Crime Team
Represented an individual involved in a highly sensitive and complex matter concerning allegations of fraud and attempting to pervert the course of justice. The case carried a high risk of media exposure and required careful handling due to the client’s vulnerable mental health. The team arranged a forensic psychiatric assessment and, following detailed discussions with the authorities, successfully negotiated a police caution – avoiding formal proceedings and a likely custodial sentence.
Family Team
Dealt with a hugely challenging and bitterly fought private children matter, representing a mother who fled an abusive relationship with her child. The case involved arbitration and court proceedings, testing the team’s expertise and resilience. Despite the difficulties, the team achieved a highly favourable outcome that had initially seemed unattainable.
Clinical Negligence Team
Represented a single mother in her 30s whose cancer diagnosis was negligently delayed, leading to a terminal prognosis. With only months to live, the team prioritised justice and financial stability for her young daughter. A conference with counsel was held at her hospital bedside, resulting in an interim payment of £75,000, allowing her to create meaningful memories and ensure her daughter’s future.
