On 1st December we were delighted to announce a merger with city centre practice Cottrills, a long established, highly respected law firm.
Cottrills has enjoyed an enviable reputation in the legal community, headed by Anne Irwin who acts for a number of high profile, national property clients. The move recognises the benefits of being able to provide a full service to her team’s clients in areas not currently covered by Cottrills, in particular family and corporate/commercial law. Anne says,
“The name of Slater Heelis still resounds in the Manchester business community and the opportunity to offer our clients the expertise afforded by Slater Heelis’ corporate/commercial team headed by Partner Geoff Blower and including the highly experienced Partner Katharine Mellor, renowned as the first female president of the Manchester Law Society, made this deal one which I did not think we should miss.”
The four partners of Cottrills will all become partners of Slater Heelis LLP; with Anne becoming Managing Partner of the Manchester city centre office, Chris Bishop becoming Managing Partner at our Sale and Timperley offices and Mike Fox moving to Senior Partner. This recent merger takes our total workforce to well over 100.
Mike says on the merger,
“Cottrill Stone Lawless has always been a highly respected city centre practice with a reputation for providing expert advice and exceptional client service. They have a first class client base and share our values and ethos. They care about their clients and colleagues and strive to provide a service second to none. To be associated with Cottrills and see the name Slater Heelis reappear in the city centre makes me extremely proud. I have no doubt that our clients will benefit from the exceptional talents of Cottrills’ experienced team”
The Slater Heelis team are delighted to have a presence back in the centre of Manchester and even more so to be welcoming new team members. 2014 looks set to be a busy and fruitful year for Slater Heelis LLP. Watch this space!
