Jewish Divorce Solicitors

A Jewish man or woman seeking to divorce will need to obtain a religious divorce (a ‘Get’) as well as a civil divorce otherwise according to Jewish law, they are both still married. Our Jewish divorce specialist can assist in the legal aspect of the religious rules.

If you find yourself in a situation where you require specialist advice, using a solicitor who has an understanding and experience of the nuances involved in a Jewish divorce can give you a significant advantage in your proceedings.

Alexandra Goldrein is well recognised for being an expert in this area and particularly in the more complex, higher-value divorces and formalising or resolving child arrangements. This is a technical and detailed area which we cannot adequately encapsulate in just one page.

The Jewish Divorce process

In summary, a Jewish man or woman seeking to divorce will need to obtain a religious divorce (a ‘Get’) as well as a civil divorce otherwise according to Jewish law, they are both still married.

Where the husband refuses to participate in seeking the Get, or the wife refuses to accept the Get, section 10a of the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973 provides that you can apply to delay a Decree Absolute until a Get is pronounced.

Our team can manage all other aspects of divorce in England in Wales, including financial settlements.

Child Arrangements after divorce

Matters involving children and religious observance may be very complex and delicate, particularly where parents disagree or hold different beliefs.

We advise on matters concerning children, ensuring that the children’s welfare is always the primary focus.

Get in touch at the earliest opportunity and we will support you from start to finish.
