The latest of our ‘In Conversation With’ events featured Manchester music royalty Dave Haslam interviewed by journalist Chris Maguire. He’s pictured here with our Managing Partner, Chris Bishop.

On Thursday 6th February, colleagues and clients headed down to HOME in Manchester for the much-anticipated event.

We love having unique, exciting speakers at our ‘In Conversation With’ events, and for those of us old enough to remember the Hacienda days, this one was almost like a trip down memory lane!

In Conversation with Dave

The interview took us through Dave’s life to date, including selling his mega record collection. If he could have chosen just one to hold onto, he would have saved “Ain’t Nobody” by Rufus and Chaka Khan, in case you were wondering.

From his childhood through the Hacienda days, his bizarre friendship with Morrissey, to lecturing and still putting on events today, we had a great insight into his life so far.

The best review Dave received of the Hacienda was a bad one! Two people in the street were asked if they frequented the club, and they said they didn’t like it because “they tried to educate you there” with the music. That was exactly what he wanted to do.

Watch and Listen

Thanks to all who attended, and thanks to Dave, too. He hand-crafted us a playlist, which you can listen to on Spotify.

You can listen to the conversation in full on our Podcast.

We also have a short video recap of the event, so whether you would like to relive it or to see what these events are like, you can watch it on YouTube.

Save the Date

On the topic of being educated, the next of our ‘In Conversation With’ events is with Dame Nancy Rothwell, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Manchester. This event will be on Thursday, 1st April.

This event will also be at HOME. Registration will open soon, and we will be sharing information on our social channels when it does, so save the date and keep an eye out for updates.
