It has been reported that baby goods and equipment retailer Mothercare UK plans to call in the Administrators due to an inability to satisfy the ongoing cash needs of the business. Although stores will continue to trade as normal for the time being, this is a move which will put around 2500 jobs at risk. Mothercare has already gone through a company voluntary arrangement, which allowed it to shut 55 stores. Unfortunately, this has not achieved the necessary financial savings. The international side to the business is not at risk and it has been reported that the international side to the business generated profits of £28.3m in the financial year ending March 2019, whereas the UK operation lost £36.3m.
