Zulaika joined the Commercial Property team at Slater Heelis as a paralegal in November 2021, and progressed to Trainee Solicitor in November 2022. She is based at our Manchester office.
Prior to joining Slater Heelis, Zulaika graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in Law in 2020 and thereafter went on to study her Legal Practice Course combined with a Masters in Law.
Zulaika has undertaken work experience, vacation schemes and open days at a number of regional and international law firms including Baker McKenzie, Kennedys, Shoosmiths and Reed Smith. She has also taken part in a two week long mini-pupillage at 10 King’s Bench Walk in London where she worked alongside barristers on Immigration and Asylum cases.
Her achievements include being named ‘an outstanding individual’ and winner of the Legal Apprentice Competition 2020 and having created a successful legal Instagram platform where she aims to motivate females in law from minority ethnic backgrounds. Further, she has also presented to partners from various law firms on topics pertaining to innovative CSR programmes and increasing access to the legal profession for BAME individuals.
